I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SCREEN!!!

I already install the XDSL in my xbox by ftp and everiting is "fine" but when i start the X everiting is big! :( can anyone help me?

Same Problem With Screen

I have the same problem with my screen. It's like the desktop is clipped visually ( not functionally, as it's all still there, just out of sight ) about the width of the bottom toolbar, all the way around the perimiter. I've tried it on a few TV's ( regular and projection ) and it was the same thing. I'm new to linux, but I could not find anything in any control panel for adjusting the sreen size. But, the clipping doesn't just effect the GUI. The penguin and text when loading XDSL are also clipped. I'll lay down a few guesses here and someone can tell me I'm out to lunch or what: 1)Something to do with the way linux is utilising the 640x480 output. 2)Something with the way the XBOX is utilising the A/V outputs. 3)Overscan with the TV. Any ideas? If it is simply overscan with useing the 640x480 option with A/V cables, I guess there really wouldn't be any fix for it, except a control panel in linux that would allow me to adjust screen size. Otherwise, this is the fastest, smoothest and smallest distro I've tried, and I've gone through about six now. By the way, they all clip when booting linux. Gentoox ( slow & bloated ) would give me a bright orange screen ( the orange screen of death? ) when trying to boot 800x600. I assume 640x480 is the only mode compatible while useing the stock A/V output with the XBOX when trying to boot to any distro of linux. Help! Any ideas? I just want to browse the internet from my XBOX, and linux looks the the only way to go until XBMC implements it. Thanks --StanKeyhoe 12:55, 28 Feb 2006 (EST)

--- Screen problem ---

Has anyone managed to fix or find a work around for this problem? I get the same thing wether I use my 27" tube tv or my 57" rptv using component cables.

--- reply to top ---

actually i use linksbox and was thinking about going under ful linux or using windows 98 light to run again. but now that i here all this about screen resolution i might go back to 98 light. you can get the linksbox from the usual places and it works ok. does anyone have any plugins for it to play movies and music? thats the only reason why i dont like it.

Big Project!

Hi All,

I got a project at hand! I have 50 xbox's and like to put X-DSL on it native. X-DSL start automaticaly, and starts XAMPP for linux! Apache/php/mysql. And the xbox login automatically.

That is wath i managed to do.

Now the tricky part.

Then a web brownser must start up automatically and open the page localhost. Then the web page must go in kiosk mode (no statusbar or navigator buttons!) And the web brownser must play movies like mpg en avi, so plugins must be installed!

Can anybody help me with this! I want to pay for it! This is a big project and like to make it work!! A few honderd euro is for anybody that coms with a x-dsl distrubution that those this, or a script.

Best regards,

Ivan

Same Problem

Screen is too Large for my TV, Help!!!!!!

Screen size/ resolution

Installed x-dsl today on my xbox solely because I want a better web browser than Linksbox. Version 0.5. Everything installed just fine and I am able to start Firefox and browse the web. However - I have the same problem as a lot of other people - a "chunck" of the desktop (on all sides) falls out of the screen and as far as I understand, there is really nothing we can do with that in term of changing any settings. A straight question to the developers: Will this problem be resolved in the near future? If so - I can wait. If not - just let me know so I can drop the Linux idea. Do you know if there are any projects working on an up to date web browser for xbox?

VLC in firefox

I'm probably the biggest noob here and I need help with getting vlc working in firefox. I've done all necessary (enabling apt and gnu/linux) and updated the sources and I ran the "apt-get install vlc" command. Ok, I got vlc installed at least I think so. No errors. But when I check about:plugins in firefox it's empty. no vlc installed. How do I register the vlc plugin and where can I find where vlc was installed...

.
