Xdsl 0.6 release candidate can now be downloaded. It is based on Dsl 3.4.2 and has many added features such as the xbox remote control working, and sound working for flashplayer. Download from: Here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/5mclj3) or Here (http://boxstr.com/browse/stevewal/3429403)
To install, burn the iso file onto a cd or dvd that your xbox can read, or extract using winrar or similar and follow the ftp install instructions included. Any bugs please post on this thread (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=654080), along with the release candidate number.
XDSL
X-DSL can be run as a live CD on a modded Xbox or installed to the Xbox hard drive. It will automatically boot into X Windows where you can use your Xbox controller to control the mouse pointer and a virtual keyboard to enter text.
X-DSL has fluxbox based desktop, with applications for a number of common tasks including
- Mozilla Firefox web browser
- AxY GTK+ graphical FTP Client
- Sylpheed graphical email client
- Naim console based AIM, ICQ, IRC
- VNC and Remote Desktop clients
- FLWriter word processor
- Siag spreadsheet
- Graphics editing and viewing using Xpaint and xzgv
- Viewers for PDF, Word and Postscript files
- emelFM file manager
- XMMS audio player
- Monkey web server
- FTP server
- SSH client/server
X-DSL can be customised using myDSL extensions with over 200 extensions currently available from the Damn Small Linux repository.
X-DSL would not be possible without John Andrews and Robert Shingledecker's work to create the Damn Small Linux (http://www.damnsmalllinux.org) distribution and the Xbox-Linux (http://www.xbox-linux.org) developer's work on porting Linux to the Xbox.
